Faith in Action: The Story of Hawiyya
Seventeen years ago, the seed for Hawiyya was planted in my heart. I’ve always believed that to be a strong Muslim, you first need to know who you are, to build an anchor inside you that holds firm no matter what life throws your way.
I still remember sitting in my living room, surrounded by books, with a master’s degree in public policy and administration and a heart full of hope. The dream of creating something that could help young Muslims discover their identity began right there, in those quiet moments.
But life, as it often does, pulled me in different directions. The years passed, filled with work, family, more degrees, and more learning. Still, the dream stayed with me, quietly waiting.
Now, seventeen years later, with a doctorate in business, a PhD in public administration and public policy, and a heart even more convinced of this mission, it is time. Hawiyya is here.
This is more than a project. It is a story of holding on, of faith, resilience, and the belief that every young Muslim deserves the tools to know themselves, love their faith, and walk into the world with confidence and purpose.
Hawiyya is for every young person still searching for their anchor. It is for every parent who dreams of seeing their child grow strong in both deen and dunya. And it is for anyone who, like me, knows that identity isn’t given. It is built.
Start building yours today.
Warmly,
Dr. Rania Marwan, Ph.D., DBA, MPA
